Anglers regularly pull in striped bass, largemouth bass, bream, crappie, shellcracker, and catfish from both Lake Moultrie and Lake Marion, and the Santee and Cooper rivers. World records have been taken for shellcracker and monster catfish from these waters. Fishing camps on both lakes offer boat rentals, supplies, bait and tackle, lodging, camping sites, boat docks and piers, swimming areas, and hot, fresh food. Knowledgeable guides are available. Dennis Wildlife Center and Bonneau Fish Hatchery: Located next to Lake Moultrie, the Dennis Wildlife Center is the headquarters for freshwater fisheries research and game management in the region. The lobby of the Administration Building displays an excellent bird collection representing 225 clutches of most of the species indigenous to the area.
