College-bound seniors are expected to complete 20 or more academic credits in six areas: English, Math, Natural Science, Foreign/Classical Language, Social Science/History and Arts and Music.

What's Unique

Strategic Planning - Over a two-year period, more than 2,000 community volunteers helped develop five-year strategic plans for the District and its 35 schools. The District received the Trident Area Consortium of Excellence award at the highest level of achievement for efforts in implementing total quality management.

Through its vocational education division, the District developed a career planning program that has been used as a state and a national model.

Opportunities for All Students

Public: Public education opporutunities are as varied as the students and parents who seek them. Whether a creative arts magnet program, outstanding athletics, the needs and abilities of all students can be accomodated in the region's public schools.

Private: Berkeley County also has two private independent schools: St. John's Christian Academy in Moncks Corner and Divine Redeemer Catholic School in Hanahan. Another private school is planned for Daniel Island. All are college preparatory schools.
