What is the Callen-Lacey Center for Children?
The Callen-Lacey Center for Children is a private, not-for-profit emergency shelter for abused and abandoned children.

How many children stay at the Center?
The Callen-Lacey Center can shelter up to 10 children, ages newborn to 17 years old.

Do the children live at the Center?
Yes, Callen-Lacey is a short-term residential program.  That means the children live at the Center until permanent placement can be found.

What is the length of stay for children at Callen-Lacey?
The average stay is approximately 60 days, although the children can stay up to 90 days.

What activities ar the children at the Center involved in?
The children at Callen-Lacey attend public schools and participate in community activities with other children at the Center.

How is the Callen-Lacey Center funded?
Callen-Lacey is a part of the United Way coalition of community agencies.  Additionally, the Center receives fees for service from the state, researches and writes grants, participates in fund-raisers and accepts individual and corporate donations.
